CLASSES
As an Accredited Professional artist
I have been working within the Studio Glass area for a number
of years and have gained
knowledge in a variety of techniques that combine:
- glass painting using lustres and enamels;
- fusing;
- slumping;
- glass casting;
- carving and engraving; and
- a number of hot glass techniques.

The courses outlined below are aimed at getting people started in gaining
knowledge in glass making processes and practices. Enabling the student
to proceed with greater confidence in the area they may wish to follow.
Interstate and international applicants welcome. Individual glass programs are available and
accommodation can be
provided at reasonable rates.
STUDIO KILN FORMED GLASS
AN INTRODUCTION TO FUSING & SLUMPUNG
This course is an introduction to glass fusing and slumping. Students
will design and make some small glass forms.
This hands-on course is designed as an introduction to some of the
kiln-formed glass making processes. Students will explore some of
the techniques of
glass making, including design, glass cutting, some approaches to pate
de vere [crushed glass], texturing, grinding, and fusing and slumping
in the kiln.
All materials are provided for this introductory course, held my glass
studio.
Duration: 3 x 3 hour classes - 9 hours total
Actual schedule can be tailored to suit students and their availability.
STUDIO KILN FORMED GLASS
FUSING & SLUMPING - INTERMEDIATE
This course is designed for those who wish to further develop skills
in the areas of fusing and slumping techniques. Students will design
and produce kiln formed pieces of glass using a variety of techniques
to suit individual areas of interest.
In this hands-on course, processes to be explored include colour and
design theory, specific types of glass and their capabilities, preparation
and construction of moulds. Students would also investigate warm and
cold glass techniques including painting, grinding, polishing, slumping
and pate de vere.
All materials are provided for this intermediate course, held at my studio.
Duration: 4 x 3 hour classes - 12 hours total

INTRODUCTION TO KILN CASTING
This course is an introduction for those who are interested in other
ways of sculptural glass making and includes mould-making processes.
Students are encouraged to use their imagination in designing a simple
form that will be cast in a kiln and finished into its ultimate form
using grinding cutting and polishing process.
All materials provided for introduction to kiln casting course. Held
at my studio.
Duration 5 x 3 Hour classes - 15 hours total
INTRODUCTION TO GLASS BEAD MAKING
BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATE
This hot glass course is held twice a year in collaboration with fellow Accredited Glass Artist Pauline Delaney: www.paulinedelaney.com
